Your China Pal is continually looking to add smart, interesting and fun people to our network of 'Pals'. If you're interested in being a YCP Guide, please review the following and submit an application.

Your China Pals are...

• Fluent or near fluent in English.
  We insist that all of our guides have an advanced level of English speaking and listening, as well as a good understanding of English reading and writing.
• Extremely knowledgeable about the city in which they wish to be a guide.
  Your China Pal's clients are smart and inquisitive; you will need to be able to share with them a wide variety of knowledge and opinions. You should have an intimate understanding of the city you live, as well as Greater China. Our support network will assist you, but you are expected to develop your own collection of information about the best places to see, eat, shop, etc.
• Fun and have an outgoing and friendly personality.
  No one wants to spend the day with some boring/bored guide going through a script of rehearsed information. YCP Guides need to be fun and funny. Light-hearted individuals that enjoy meeting new people and are easy to get along with.
• Interested in introducing their culture, history and language to others.
  We are looking for people who have a passion about sharing their knowledge of China's history, culture and language. YCP clients often have very limited knowledge about China and will likely be interested in having an "insider's view" of what China is really like.

Your China Pals aren't...

• Afraid to share their opinions.
  We don't want you to just share the touristy things you've read in a book. We want you to have opinions about culture, history and specifically how China fits into the modern world.
• Looking to make fast money off of stupid laowai.
  As a YCP Guide, you will need to adhere to some of the highest standards of professionalism. We pay our guides a generous sum because we feel if our guides are treated fair, they will treat our clients fairly. No side-deals, commissions, etc. are allowed.
• Here looking for a full-time job.
  We are a small company, and though we are growing fast, we are not able to provide any one guide with full-time work. We choose guides based on their availability and a rotating schedule to try and make sure each guide gets a fair chance to work.
• Allowed to engage in any sexual behavior with clients.
  There are many "escort" services available in China, but we are NOT one of them. Any such activity will be cause for immediate dismissal.
